The site and the free assessment
The site describes Conscious and offers a free assessment: an obligation map that identifies the privacy regimes and control frameworks that apply to an organisation, and a readiness check against any of them. No account is required and nothing on the site is sold.
What a result is
A result is a self-assessment. It records what the person completing it believed to be true at the time. It is not a legal opinion, an audit finding or a compliance determination, and it does not establish that an organisation complies with any law, regulation or framework.
The obligation map applies published routing rules to the facts entered. A fact entered wrongly gives a wrong map, and an organisation's own advisers remain the authority on what applies to it.
Where the content comes from
Each privacy regime records the instrument it was read from and the date on which it was last verified. Laws and frameworks change; where the site and the published instrument differ, the instrument governs.
Licensed standards, including ISO, PCI DSS, SOC 2, HITRUST, TISAX, BSI C5, CIS, CSA, SWIFT and NERC, are referred to by name and reference number only. Their control text is not reproduced; the questions and guidance are written by Conscious. Openly published texts are credited to their publishers. The names of standards and frameworks belong to their owners, and their use here implies no endorsement.
The record
The record of an assessment belongs to the person who completed it, to keep, print and share as that person decides.
Use of the site
- Request a record only for yourself, at an address you are entitled to use.
- Do not attempt to disrupt the site or the service that receives requests. Requests are limited in number per network and per address.
- Do not present a result as a certification or as the view of Conscious.
Personal data
What the site keeps, where and for how long is set out in the privacy notice.
No warranty, and liability
The site and the free assessment are provided as they are, free of charge and without any warranty. To the extent the law allows, Conscious is not liable for any loss arising from their use or from reliance on a result. Nothing here limits a liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the place where the operator of Conscious is established, without prejudice to any protection the law of your own country gives you.
Changes
These terms describe the site as it is offered today. Where they change, this page changes and the review date at the top moves.
